I keep my insulin vial in my butter spot in the fridge door. The other day, I opened it up and the vial fell out it's box and onto the tile kitchen floor…smash! Broke the bottom right off the bottle. Brand new bottle mind you, only dosed once out of it. A whole range of emotions (and colorful words to go with them) flooded me.
I am fortunate, I can just go buy some more, no prescription required and only $25 per vial. But I know some of us cannot and a loss like that could set you back both physically and financially.
Does your doctor allow you to replace a lost pen or broken insulin vial?
Will your insurance cover an extra one under these circumstances?
Has this ever happened to you and what did you do about it?
