Life is in itself, beautiful .

Who or what is it that keeps you moving forward and enjoying life other than life itself ?

What suggestions or advice would you give to others who may want to " Cash it in " or " Call it quits " in life ?

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning. - Mahatma Gandhi

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. - Maria Robinson

Hello, Friends. I am working in Washington, DC this week. I received a frantic phone call from my daughter telling me that her husband's sister died from an accidental prescription drug overdose. 22 years old. This is my son-in-law's baby sister. I could hear him screaming "NO!" in the background.

This beautiful young woman was one of the kindest people I have ever met. She was extremely friendly and very, very funny. You know the cliche, "To know her is to love her"… it has never been more true of anyone that I have known.

These young folks have no parents in their lives, except for a loving grandfather and me and my husband. Despite a really terrible upbringing, the children created a fantastic circle of new family while clinging to each other. My son-in-law has a (rather large) sign hanging on a wall that reads, "Happiness is a choice".

I have been on the phone offering support and helping to write an obituary. It's surreal… an obituary for this young lady? My heart swells with love and pride for the loving brother my son-in-law is to his surviving sister and to his beloved deceased sister. He is only 26 years old himself. His sister's favorite color is pink. My daughter tells me that New York is now "out of pink flowers".

My husband absolutely amazed me in this. He is a sort of a brusque "guy's guy" type — though his daughters have changed him quite a bit over the years! He was so moved by this unfortunate, untimely death and the grief of the young folks left behind that he wrote a poem!!! It is his first, I can tell you. It is excellent, btw, and he has been asked to read it at the funeral service.

I am busy finding and making arrangements to fly home to offer my love and support.

Life is tough sometimes, lots of times. Life is short — even if you live to 100, it is only a moment in time. I can hardly sleep many nights thinking about the injustices that I come across in my work and the people whose lives those injustices affect. But then, that's precisely what gets me out of bed the following morning! We can matter so very much to the people around us: family, friends, neighbors, strangers. Its enough to keep us going. Thanks so much for reading. I needed someone to "talk" to… thanks for being here. -Anne

Rely on your faith to bring you guidance, compassion, love and understanding during times of need, so that you may pass the very same on to others, in both word and deed, thereby comforting them when they need it most.

Ah, HGTV an DIY, I know them well, not to mention the History Channels and Discovery Channel, it's hard to quench your thirst for learning as an adult once you become thirsty for it as a child.

" A New Day ", to answer my own question !

Your response, and the quotes you offered, speak to hope and possibilities. My early life had little of either, and what kept me moving forward at that time was faith that I would regain hope (needed to seek and even create possibilities). After answering an 800 support line for many years, I found that most of the callers were extremely lonely, isolated people, often without hope. I learned that the Human Spirit is incredible and finds hope in/from others or from deep within one's self. Simple but loving human contact has amazing results. These days, my little family (that includes a handful of close friends) keeps me going. I have invested so much in them and vice versa. Both of our daughters had their own daughters within 6 weeks of each other. These little two-years old keep me moving, whether I feel able or not! The whole world is brand new again! -Anne

You brought Joy and Hope to many people and changed their lives, thereby changing the lives and uplifting the spirits of many in ways you cannot imagine !

On behalf of those whom lives you have inspired, I say, "Thank You," and I dedicate this quote to you :

I have learned two lessons in my life: first, there are no sufficient literary, psychological, or historical answers to human tragedy, only moral ones. Second, just as despair can come to one another only from other human beings, hope, too, can be given to one only by other human beings. - Elie Wiesel

Deborah and Mays,

This is a wonderful discussion that I am enjoying following. I want to add only that I acknowledge a divinity in each of us. My understanding of a single, loving God as Father to all of us includes His presence in each of us. I have not been religious in about 5 years, but my spirituality is as strong as ever. Thanks for such thoughtful and open sharing.

It goes by many other names,in many cultures, but to most it's known as your concious, it questions you when you are wrong, never praises you or pats you on your back when you are right, and remains with you forever, speaking only when you need to be spoken to !
